- Add it to your crudité platter to serve alongside other dips, such as Greek Yogurt Onion Dip or Feta Cheese Dip.
- Ditch the tuna and spread this salmon cream cheese spread between two thick slices of bread to make a sandwich. You can even stack it with sliced cucumbers, lettuce, or a slice of cheddar cheese.
A Few Tips & Notes
Here are some tips for success and variations that you’ll love.
- Substitute the smoked salmon for diced cooked shrimp for a delicious twist while keeping the flavor of the sea.
- For best texture, make sure to get all the excess moisture out of the cucumbers before mixing in with the cream cheese so the spread does not become watery.
- This is also a great keto-friendly option. Plain Greek yogurt and cream cheese are high in fat and low in carbs which makes this the perfect meal for everyone in your family.
How Long Does This Spread Last?
This salmon spread will last in the refrigerator for up to three days. Make sure it’s in an airtight container or bowl covered with plastic wrap. When you’re ready to eat it, set it on the counter for a few minutes to allow it to warm up slightly before putting it on your toasted bagels.
Salmon spread is amazing when it’s served fresh, however, it’s not great for freezing to eat later. The best ingredients in the spread are most flavorful when they’re fresh. The cucumbers, green onions, and dill are lackluster and the flavor won’t be as strong after thawing.
All this to say, when you want to eat salmon spread, make it from scratch every time. The good news is that it only takes a few minutes to prepare, so it’s quick and easy.

I’d love to try this recipe but I have two questions. How long can I keep this spread in the fridge? How many does it serve? Thanks looking forward to making your spread.
Hi Melissa: I would say about 2 maybe 3 days the most. You could probably stretch it out a bit longer but I’m not sure how the salmon will do. As far as the serving size, this recipe yields about 2 cups of spread so it all depends on how you’re going to use it. But 2 cups that’s a pretty good size amount.
It was the most amazing “discovery”,thanks for the recipe! I’ve also added a crushed garlic clove and instead of Greek yogurt I used Kefir. Yummy
Sorry,I pressed the wrong “star”,you deserve more!
Thank you Delia!
