What is Mediterranean Flatbread?
Mediterranean flatbread is a flatbread pizza that is topped with artichokes, tomatoes, olives, and prosciutto in a sweet and garlicky dressing. It’s a simple, quick, and easy appetizer or light lunch that comes together in about 20-minutes!
The secret to this easy flatbread is using store-bought naan bread. So you don’t have to deal with yeast or any type of raw dough for this recipe. Naan bread is readily available at most supermarkets and a quick toast in the oven transforms it into the perfect crunchy base.
You will love how quick and easy this recipe is to make!
Flatbread Toppings
For this Mediterranean flatbread recipe, you’ll need naan bread and also the following topping ingredients:
- Artichokes: To save on prep time, look for marinated artichokes that are already quartered. I love using marinated artichokes as they are more flavorful than the artichokes in brine.
- Tomatoes: Fresh grape tomatoes or cherry tomatoes can be used instead.
- Sun-Dried Tomatoes: Sun-dried tomatoes have an intense sweet-tart flavor, so a little goes a long way. You’ll need oil-packed tomatoes.
- Olives: Buy sliced black olives instead of whole olives to save on prep time.
- Prosciutto: It’s an Italian dry-cured ham that is usually thinly sliced and very salty. Pre-packaged prosciutto is usually sold near the deli counter.
- Basil: If you’re not a fan of basil, try fresh parsley instead.
The topping ingredients are combined and tossed with a simple dressing that consists of olive oil, wine vinegar, garlic, mustard, and honey.
How to Make Mediterranean Flatbread
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the artichokes, grape tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, prosciutto, and basil.
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, garlic, mustard, and honey. Add to the artichoke mixture and toss to combine. Cover and refrigerate.
- Step 3: Toast the naan bread in a pre-heated 400 F oven for 7-10 minutes or until the bottom and edges are golden crisp.
- Step 4: Spoon the artichoke mixture over each toasted naan bread. Slice and serve immediately.
