Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 22–24 old-fashioned pretzel rods
- 6 oz. semi-sweet, dark, or white chocolate, or candy melts, about 1 cup
Toppings
- Sprinkles
- Finely chopped nuts
- Crushed candy canes
- Shredded coconut
- Mini M&M’s, chopped mini Reese’s PB cups, or toffee bits
Instructions
- Prepare a small workstation to move through dipping and decorating the pretzel rods quickly. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Melt chocolate, either in a double boiler or use the microwave. For the microwave, place chocolate in a 2-cup glass measuring cup. Melt in 20-second increments, stirring after each increment until completely melted and smooth. If the chocolate is too thick, add 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil.
- Working quickly, dip the pretzel rod halfway into the chocolate allowing the excess to drip off and place it onto the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle desired toppings over the dipped pretzel rod. Repeat with the rest of the pretzel rods.
- Place the baking sheet into the refrigerator to help the chocolate set, for about 20 minutes or leave at room temperature for about 1 hour.
- To store, transfer the rods into an airtight container and store at room temperature, away from heat or direct light. Rods will stay fresh this way for about 2 weeks.
