Spicy garlic edamame is made with four ingredients and about 10 minutes from start to finish. It is garlicky, spicy, and so addicting. You won’t be able to put these down! 

This garlic edamame is quickly boiled then drained and tossed in garlic and chili infused butter. The butter creates a delicious coating for the edamame, making it so appetizing and addictive.

It’s great as a snack or side dish.

  • Frozen edamame, in the pod
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Red pepper flakes

How to Make Garlic Edamame

First, start by cooking the edamame in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Make sure to use edamame in pods and not shelled. Set aside the edamame over a colander to drain.

Next, melt the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1-2 minutes. Make sure not to burn the garlic. Then stir in the cooked edamame. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Katya’s TIP: If you’re someone who loves spicy food then go with 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes but if you want less spicy go with 1/4 teaspoon.

How Do You Eat Spicy Edamame?

To eat the edamame, peel open the pods and push out the beans. Discard the pods.

  • 1 (12 oz.) bag frozen edamame in pods
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/41/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Bring a medium saucepan with water to a boil. Add edamame and cook at a rolling boil for 2-3 or until tender. Set aside over a colander to drain.
  2. In a non-stick skillet melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Stir in the cooked edamame. Season with salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Spiciness: If you’re someone who loves spicy food then go with 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, otherwise stick with 1/4 teaspoon.
